Women’s Legend Leads Multiple-Time Tag Team Champions To Victory

Judy Martin of The Glamour Girls joined Miami’s Sweet Heat (Laurie Carlson and Lindsey Carlson) as their special manager for one night replacing Lana Star. It happened in Dublin, Georgia, USA at a Lariato Pro Wrestling Guild event on Friday. 

The results of the match saw The Carlson Twins (with Judy Martin) defeat Jazzy Yang and Nikki Heat when Heat was pinned after The Fab Jab double team maneuver. The finish was set up by Martin interfering by getting on the ring and hitting Heat with an illegal object while the referee was bumped. 

Judy Martin held the WWF Women’s World Tag Team Titles twice with Leilani Kai. There were only five champions coming out those original titles. Martin and Kai are the most historic of the bunch in bittersweet ways being the only team to be 2x champions as well as the last champions back then. The WWF retired the championships in 1989 not long after The Glamour Girls regained them from The Jumping Bomb Angels in Japan on an All Japan Women’s Pro Wrestling show by Count Out. WWE did not bring Women’s Tag Team Titles back until 2019. Martin and Kai would go to the LPWA in the early 1990s where they are in the history books again as the last Tag Team Champions in that company. They defeated Misty Blue and Heidi Lee Morgan - the first LPWA Tag Team Champions. 

Miami’s Sweet Heat are 5x former WOW- Women Of Wrestling World Tag Team Champions and they always booked like a threat even when they’re not holding the titles. Tara Strike and Ashley Blaze are the current champions after defeating the twins for the belts in May on WOW TV.
