WWF Madison Square Garden 11/30/91 Houseshow Results Featuring Hulk Hogan vs. Ric Flair

Vince McMahon, Bobby “The Brian” Heenan, and Lord Alfred Hayes were the broadcast team at ringside. Howard Finkel was the ring announcer. They talked about Hogan Hogan losing the WWF Championship to The Undertaker on Thanksgiving Eve (aka the WWF Survivor Series pay-per-view) in Detroit at Joe Louis Arena due to interference from Ric Flair. They hyped Hogan vs. Flair as the main event here at MSG tonight.
“El Matador” Tito Santana pinned Kato after a forearm shot to the back of the neck in 10:24.
“Texas Tornado” Kerry Von Erich defeated The Berzerker by Count Out in about 2-Minutes. They were brawling around ringside and then Von Erich got back into the ring while The Berzerker decided to wander around down on the floor aimlessly. The Berzerker never got back into the ring and marched back to the locker room after Von Erich was declared the winner. McMahon said it was one of the strangest matches he’s seen at MSG.
Virgil pinned Skinner with a sunset flip in 6:07.
Ric Flair pinned Hulk Hogan after hitting him with brass knuckles in 9:53. Flair had the NWA/WCW World Title “big gold belt” with him but it was censored out as he showed if off to the crowd. McMahon said WWF president Jack Tunney has ordered it to blurred out on television because Flair didn’t win the title in the WWF and it’s not a title recognized by the WWF. Before the start of the match, Mr. Perfect’s name was announced to the crowd as accompanying Flair to the ring but Perfect wasn’t with him. Perfect ran down to ringside minutes into the match and interfered by ramming Hogan’s legs into the ring post to soften him up for Flair’s figure four leglock as Flair distracted the referee. Heenan and McMahon wondered why Perfect he didn’t come out with Flair from the start. McMahon said this was the main event even if it was in the middle of the card.
WWF officials Tony Garea and Dave Hebner ran into the ring while Ric Flair was celebrating the win and they told referee Earl Hebner what had happened. Dave Hebner saw that Flair was hiding the brass knuckles in the back of his ring trunks and showed it as proof. Earl Hebner reversed the decision and Hulk Hogan won by Disqualification. Hogan tackled Flair and beat him up while Mr. Perfect argued with the officials about the decision being overturned. (Hulk Hogan would regain the WWF Championship from The Undertaker a few days after this MSG event on the WWF special one time only pay-per-view called “This Tuesday In Texas”).
Intermission
“Hacksaw” Jim Duggan pinned The Barbarian after a clothesline in 8:22. The Barbarian knocked Duggan out of the ring after the match and McMahon called him a “poor sport” for it. Duggan grabbed the 2×4 and he hit The Barbarian with it a couple of times to get even.
WWF Intercontinental Champion Bret Hart pinned The Mountie after the diving elbow from the second rope in in 13:24. The Mountie tried to go after Hart with the shock stick but The Big Bossman ran out and made the save and took the stick away from him.
I.R.S. pinned The Big Bossman after hitting him with the briefcase when The Mountie ran down to the ring and distracted The Big Bossman and the referee in 14:15.
The Nasty Boys (Brian Knobbs and Jerry Sags with Jimmy Hart) defeated The Rockers (Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty) when Sags pinned Jannetty with an inside cradle after Michaels accidentally reversed the inside cradle thinking Jannetty was on the bottom of it instead in 18:26. Michaels ran back in the ring to try to break up the pin cover and correct his mistake but he was too late. He tried to apologize after the match but Jannetty argued with him about it. They left the ring walking far apart from each other back to the locker room. On commentary throughout the match, Heenan said he read in the WWF Magazine that Michaels and Jannetty aren’t getting along as of late and they’ve become jealous of each other. McMahon said he read the same thing in the WWF Magazine but added it just seemed to be rumors for now. McMahon strongly suggested that this match was a #1 Contenders Match of sorts to get a titles shot at WWF World Tag Team Champions The Legion Of Doom (Hawk and Animal).
